Exam Details for the GARP SCR Exam 2025

The GARP Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR®) Certificate consists of a single comprehensive exam designed to assess a candidate’s knowledge of climate-related financial risks and their impact on global markets.

Candidates are recommended to dedicate at least 100–130 hours of study to prepare effectively, though the actual time required may vary based on individual background and experience. There are no prerequisites for taking the SCR® exam, and candidates can attempt the exam multiple times if needed, progressing at their own pace.

To ensure the curriculum remains relevant in the rapidly evolving landscape of sustainability and climate risk, GARP regularly updates the SCR® Program with the latest regulatory developments, risk management strategies, and industry best practices. Staying informed on emerging climate-related financial risks and trends is key to successfully earning the certification and advancing in this growing field.

    • The GARP SCR® exam consists of 90 multiple-choice questions, including two case studies.

    • Total exam duration: 4 hours (No scheduled breaks).

    • Format: Computer-based testing (CBT) at global test centers.

    • Scoring: Pass/Fail result based on a scaled scoring system.

    • Exam windows: Offered twice a year (April and October).
