Exam Details for the Sustainable Investing Certificate 2025

The CFA Institute Sustainable Investing Certificate consists of a single comprehensive exam of 100 multiple-choice questions, to be completed within 2 hours and 20 minutes, delivered either online (proctored) or at CFA Institute testing centres. Once registered, candidates have six months to schedule and sit the exam, with up to three attempts permitted under the standard retake policy.

Candidates are recommended to dedicate 100–130 hours of self-paced study to prepare effectively, though actual time requirements will vary based on individual background and experience. There are no formal prerequisites for taking the exam, making it accessible to professionals at all stages, and prior familiarity with basic investment processes can be helpful.
