CIPM Level 2 September 2026 Exam Window: Dates, Scheduling, and Rescheduling

The CIPM Level II September 2026 examination window runs from 16–30 September 2026. Registration closed on 31 July 2026, but registered candidates must still schedule and manage their individual test-center appointments correctly. The published scheduling deadline is 22 September 2026. CFA Institute states that all deadlines are measured at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

The exam window is not a single universal exam date. Each candidate selects an available appointment within the window at a Prometric testing center.

September 2026 Dates at a Glance

  • Registration closed: 31 July 2026

  • Examination window: 16–30 September 2026

  • Scheduling deadline: 22 September 2026

  • Rescheduling fee: USD 25

CIPM examinations are offered in person at Prometric centers. After registering, candidates schedule their appointments through their CFA Institute account and select an available center, date, and time. Appointment availability varies by location and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration and Scheduling Are Different Steps

Paying the exam registration fee does not automatically reserve a testing appointment.

A registered candidate must still complete the scheduling process and receive confirmation of a specific:

  • Test center

  • Examination date

  • Starting time

  • Appointment confirmation number

Do not assume that registration alone guarantees a place at your preferred center. CFA Institute warns that candidates who fail to schedule by the published deadline may lose their registration. Exam fees are non-refundable, non-deferrable, and non-transferable when a candidate fails to schedule or does not attend the examination.

After booking, save both the confirmation email and a screenshot or PDF of the appointment details. Check that the appointment appears correctly inside your CFA Institute account.

Should You Choose an Early or Late Date?

Selecting a date near 16 September provides less study time but gives additional flexibility if travel, illness, or another unexpected problem develops.

Selecting a date near 30 September creates almost two additional weeks of preparation, but it also leaves less room to solve a scheduling problem. Seats at convenient centers and preferred times may already be unavailable.

Use the following decision rule:

Choose an earlier appointment when:

  • Your preparation is already progressing well.

  • Work or travel becomes less predictable later in September.

  • Your nearest test center has limited availability.

  • You want time remaining inside the exam window if an official disruption occurs.

Choose a later appointment when:

  • The additional study days have a specific purpose.

  • You need time for a second mock and targeted repair.

  • Your late-September work schedule is dependable.

  • The available test center and travel arrangements are acceptable.

Do not select the final available date merely to obtain more study time. The benefit may be small if it creates difficult travel or an inconvenient starting time.

How Rescheduling Works

A candidate who already has an appointment may change the date, time, or test center, subject to availability and the published deadline.

CFA Institute charges a USD 25 rescheduling fee. Rescheduling must be completed through the approved appointment process; cancelling an appointment is not the same as successfully moving it.

Before releasing your existing appointment, confirm that the desired replacement appointment is available. Availability can change quickly, especially in cities with only one nearby testing center.

After rescheduling, verify that you receive a new confirmation. The latest confirmation should display the updated center, date, and time.

When Rescheduling Is Worth the Fee

Rescheduling is reasonable when the change produces a meaningful advantage, such as:

  • Avoiding a known work deadline

  • Reducing a long or unreliable journey

  • Moving away from an unsuitable early-morning appointment

  • Creating several productive study days for clearly identified weaknesses

  • Correcting an appointment booked in the wrong location or time zone

It is usually not worth changing an appointment repeatedly because of normal exam anxiety or a single disappointing practice session.

Before paying the fee, write down exactly what you will accomplish with the additional time.

For example:

  • Complete 160 mixed questions

  • Repair manager-selection errors

  • Take and review one full mock

  • Revisit GIPS-related mistakes

  • Practise scenario-based questions under time pressure

Without a defined plan, postponing the appointment within the window may only move the anxiety to a later date.

What Happens If You Arrive Late?

CFA Institute recommends arriving at least 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment. Late candidates may be refused admission, and the exam fee may not be refunded or transferred. Security checks can include inspection of clothing, personal belongings, and eyeglasses, as well as metal-detector screening.

Level II contains 80 scenario-based multiple-choice questions completed in three hours. Up to two unscheduled breaks are permitted, but the examination clock does not stop during those breaks. Candidates cannot leave the test center or access phones and study materials during an unscheduled break.

Final Scheduling Checklist CIPM Level 2 September 2026 Exam Window

At least one week before the appointment:

  1. Confirm the center, date, and local starting time.

  2. Plan to arrive 30 minutes early.

  3. Check the route and expected travel time.

  4. Save the latest appointment confirmation.

  5. Review CFA Institute’s identification and calculator policies.

  6. Verify that any rescheduling was completed—not merely initiated.

The most important deadline is not only the end of the exam window. It is the deadline for securing and managing your individual appointment. Registering, scheduling, and appearing at the correct Prometric center are separate responsibilities, and missing any one of them can prevent you from sitting the September 2026 exam.
