1) FRM Level 1 Registration 2026: windows and key deadlines
Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) offers FRM Part I in three windows in 2026, with separate scheduling windows for each. FRM Level 1 Registration 2026
FRM Part I 2026 dates (official)
May 2026: Part I May 9–15, 2026
August 2026: Part I Aug 7–8, 2026 (AM session)
November 2026: Part I Nov 14–20, 2026
Registration windows and scheduling windows (Part I)
Exam window | Registration period(s) | Scheduling window (book appointment) |
May 2026 (May 9–15) | Standard: Feb 1 – Mar 31, 2026 | Dec 1, 2025 – Apr 25, 2026 |
August 2026 (Aug 7–8 AM) | Early: Mar 1 – Apr 30, 2026; Standard: May 1 – Jun 30, 2026 | Mar 1 – Jul 25, 2026 |
November 2026 (Nov 14–20) | Early: May 1 – Jul 31, 2026; Standard: Aug 1 – Sept 30, 2026 | May 1 – Oct 24, 2026 |
Deadline time zone: GARP notes registration and scheduling deadlines are 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the stated dates. (If you’re in Europe, that can effectively mean “early next morning” locally depending on daylight savings—treat deadlines as non-negotiable and act at least 24 hours early.)
2) Fees for FRM Part I in 2026 (what you’ll actually pay)
Exam fees (Part I)
GARP publishes the following exam fees for FRM Part I:
May 2026: USD 800 (standard registration; register by March 31)
August 2026: USD 600 (early) / USD 800 (standard)
November 2026: USD 600 (early) / USD 800 (standard)
One-time enrollment fee (new candidates)
If you are new to the FRM Program, you must pay a one-time enrollment fee of USD 400 when you register for Part I.
Taxes (VAT/GST) may apply
GARP explicitly notes that listed exam fees do not include applicable taxes (e.g., VAT/GST). The system calculates and adds relevant taxes during payment based on your location.
Refund policy (important)
GARP states it does not provide refunds for the exam enrollment or exam registration fee.
3) Step-by-step scheduling workflow (the part candidates miss)
GARP is very clear: registration ≠ scheduling. Registration is paying for an exam window; scheduling is picking the exact test center/date/time. If you register but never schedule, you won’t have an appointment.
Step 1 — Create/log into your GARP account
Start from your candidate account (the portal is where registration status and scheduling links live).
Step 2 — Register for FRM Part I (choose May/Aug/Nov)
During registration you:
select the exam window,
confirm your details,
pay the exam fee (plus the one-time enrollment fee if you’re new).
Step 3 — Schedule your appointment (this is separate)
After payment, schedule your seat:
Log in → go to “My Programs” → click “Exam Setup” to schedule.
Choose your location, date, and time within the scheduling window for your exam month.
Step 4 — Know which scheduling provider applies to you
Most locations: schedule through PSI. Seats are first-come, first-served, and GARP advises selecting the specific exam month to see accurate locations.
China, Hong Kong, Thailand: schedule via ATA (not PSI).
Step 5 — Rescheduling, site changes, and deferrals (rules + deadlines)
Key operational rules from GARP’s FAQ:
You may reschedule your appointment once.
You may defer (switch exam months) once for a USD 250 fee, if eligible.
Last day to change exam site: Apr 25 (May), Jul 25 (Aug), Oct 24 (Nov).
Last day to switch exam month (deferral): Mar 31 (May), Jun 30 (Aug), Sept 30 (Nov).
4) Practical scheduling advice (to avoid the common failure modes)
Register early when available (Aug/Nov): early registration is cheaper (USD 600 vs 800) and usually offers better seat availability.
Schedule immediately after paying: the scheduling window can open months earlier than the exam, and seats are first-come.
Treat all deadlines as “one day earlier” than stated: because they are in Eastern Time and you don’t want DST surprises.
