GARP SCR October 2026: What Mock Score Means You Are Ready?

GARP does not publish a fixed percentage that guarantees a pass on the Sustainability and Climate Risk Certificate Exam. The exam is reported on a pass-or-fail basis, and candidates receive quartile information comparing their performance with other candidates. Results are normally available through the candidate portal within four to six weeks after the exam window closes.

For preparation purposes, a practical readiness target is:

At least 70%, or 56 correct answers out of 80, on two fresh, fully timed official practice exams.

What Your Mock Must Reproduce

The October 2026 SCR Exam runs from 17–25 October 2026. Standard registration closes on 30 September, while registered candidates may schedule an appointment through 23 October. Candidates can choose either a Pearson VUE testing center or online proctoring.

The exam contains 80 equally weighted multiple-choice questions, including one multi-part case study, and allows four hours. Candidates therefore have an average of three minutes per question. The exam tests analytical thinking and practical application rather than simple recognition of climate terminology.

A meaningful readiness mock must be:

Previously unseen
Completed without notes or external resources
Finished within four hours
Taken in one continuous session
Reviewed for uncertain and guessed answers
Based on the current 2026 curriculum

An untimed score or a result obtained from repeated questions should not be treated as evidence of exam readiness.

How to Interpret Your Score

75% or higher: Strong readiness

A score of at least 60 correct answers is a strong signal when it is repeated on a second mock.

At this level, your remaining work should focus on isolated weaknesses, required online readings, case-study interpretation, and preventable errors. Do not restart the entire curriculum simply because some questions were difficult.

70%–74%: Credible readiness

A result between 56 and 59 correct answers indicates reasonable readiness when:

You obtained a similar score on both official mocks.
No major curriculum chapter remained substantially weak.
You completed every question within four hours.
Most correct answers were based on identifiable reasoning.
Your case-study performance was comparable with your standalone-question performance.

Two results of 70% and 72% are more reliable than one result of 78% followed by 62%.

65%–69%: Borderline but recoverable

A score between 52 and 55 correct answers may be recoverable before October, particularly when errors are concentrated in a few areas.

Examples include:

Confusing physical and transition risk channels
Misinterpreting climate scenarios
Mixing up Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions
Selecting an unsuitable climate-risk metric
Confusing green-finance instruments
Misunderstanding net-zero or transition-plan requirements
Missing facts in the multi-part case study

Do not immediately take another mock. Repair the repeated errors first and then test them with previously unused questions.

Below 65%: Return to targeted curriculum work

A score below 52 correct answers normally indicates that substantial gaps remain.

Full mocks identify those gaps but do not automatically correct them. Return to the relevant learning objectives, explain the concept without notes, and complete focused chapter questions before using another simulation.

Calculate a Confidence-Adjusted Score

A raw result may exaggerate readiness when several guesses happen to be correct.

Classify every correct answer as:

Confident: You knew the answer and could explain it.
Uncertain: You narrowed the options but were not completely sure.
Lucky: You selected the correct answer largely by guessing.

Calculate:

Adjusted score = confident correct answers + 50% of uncertain correct answers

Give no credit to lucky answers.

Suppose you score 58 out of 80, or 72.5%. If 10 correct answers were uncertain and four were lucky, your adjusted score becomes:

44 confident + five adjusted uncertain = 49 out of 80, or 61.25%.

That result indicates more review is needed despite the apparently strong raw score.

The official Study Guide lists the number of examination questions associated with each chapter. Use those allocations when analysing your mock rather than treating every chapter as equally important.

As a practical rule, do not consider yourself ready when any heavily represented chapter remains below approximately 60%, even if your total score exceeds 70%.

Analyse the Case Study Separately

For every case-study error, identify:

The organisation or portfolio’s objective
The relevant climate-risk channel
The time horizon
The metric, scenario, instrument, or control being assessed
The case fact that eliminates the strongest incorrect answer

Do not label an error simply as “scenario analysis” or “governance.” Record the exact decision trigger you missed.

Use the Official Resources Correctly

Registered candidates receive complimentary GARP Learning access, including the curriculum, chapter questions, performance monitoring, and two full-length practice exams. GARP notes that chapter practice questions are not necessarily representative of actual SCR Exam questions, so use them for learning and repair while preserving the full mocks for readiness testing.

GARP recommends approximately 100–150 study hours for the SCR Exam. A high mock score should therefore confirm completed preparation—not replace systematic curriculum study.
